“We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly - spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order.”

Honoring God through healthy living begins with developing self control and taking care of our bodies. After all they are not our own but they were bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. So then, we are to honor God in our bodies. (I Cor 6:19-20). As we center our lives around Him we are compelled to obedience by taking care of them. After all, our reasonable service of worship is to offer them as living sacrifices to God (Rom 12:1).
Healthier living begins with change in our thinking about how we value our bodies. God values them a great deal and so should we. In order to fulfill the will of God in our lives we must gain the mastery of every unhealthy habit that is hindering us along with direct disobedience to God that so easily trap us and go after the things that He has placed in His word and in our hearts. (Heb 12:1b, paraphrased). Regular self examination should be an active, ongoing process that we walk through with the Holy Spirit. We must evaluate our eating and self care habits and think about whether or not they bring honor and glory to God. Awareness of our mental condition, acceptance of responsibility, asking for help of the Holy Spirit, and obedience to God, is doing our part.
One way specifically we can walk in obedience is to consume more water to naturally cleanse and replenish our bodies. We are two-thirds part water and we use it to get nutrients from our food to our muscles and brain by way of our blood, which is also mostly consist of water. Equally as important, we must consume more of the Word, God's spiritual water, allowing Christ to cleanse us by the washing of water with the Word which is able to save our souls (Eph 5:26; James 1:21b).
