Are You Humble Enough to Receive Him?

Writer: K.B. ChaneyK.B. Chaney

Well, are you? We most often always say yes and yet we walk away from God’s word “forgetting what manner of man we are.” More so than none because we often look into the mirror of the word not looking inwardly at ourselves but outwardly at others. No wonder we do not receive! We walk in pride even when it comes to the word of God. Somehow our carnal minds are duly protected by the ego against such truth. Self-preservation is its job you know. Protecting our existence by any means necessary, even denial. What happens when a person is traumatized? The ego goes into survival mode and tells you what you need to hear to remain alive. It shuts down, alters, and at times totally replaces memories with different alternatives to protect you. Ego can also mean – energy gone off. It is off track, operating independently of its true North, which is God, the one who correctly can Govern Over Dominions, which includes Governing Our Dominion. We simply must be humble enough to receive Him through the power of His grace which is His power working through Holy Spirit living within us, giving Him back His rightful place to commune with us from within.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? In word it is, and yet the minute you make that decision to humble through submission to God - recognizing and acknowledging your need for a Savior and surrendering your will to His, ALL hell breaks loose! The mission…to war against your mind through the law of sin and death that gained legal permission to operate within you the day you were born into this world through the members of your physical body – your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and touch. He works through these connectors to the physical realm to gain dominion over your soul and rule over you for his good pleasure, which is against God’s. His hatred for humankind is so desperate that he desires to still, kill, and destroy us because of whose we are. Yes, Satan does not simply give up without a fight. Like Adam and Eve, we get to choose to obey God, just from a different nature. Unlike us, they were not born into sin. They were deceived and chose to sin, giving birth to it for all humanity. We can’t unleash our anger against them; however, it was going to happen eventually one way or another so that humanity could experience the greatness of a God that wanted to be known and glorified for who He is. So, get past it! I had to! And get on to making your decision to live for Him or against Him by default for your oneself.
Being humble enough means we must recognize and acknowledge our need for God to be re-throned over our lives. I say re-throned because we came from His throne. Lol, and He did not dispense us here to live wildly on our own. We were created to make His name glorious…by choice, not force! Though often, I look at the hand we’ve been dealt and clearly see that the deck has been stacked against us. So, while we may choose, the alternative is not a desirable one when you look at the end thereof. A life of fear, unrest, and submission to His enemy, Satan, by default. Somewhere along the line, we find a chain about our neck, wrist, and ankles that say, “You belong to me and now you will do as I say.” That’s right we become a slave to another master. His rewards are quite uneventful, so I submit unto you to choose life.
How does choice and grace work you ask? It is a revelation that is not easily understood; therefore, few receive its full benefits. What does it look like to walk in this grace? By choice! We choose to believe God at His word and choose to align our mind, will, and emotions to His, trusting that He is a keeper of His word. Sound familiar? We choose to walk in faith! It is impossible to be found pleasing in His sight without it, and He rewards us based on our faith to seek diligently after Him. It takes steadfast humility to walk in God’s grace. To choose His way over our own. His ways are not our ways and so it does not make sense to the natural mind to follow the path He sets before us. In fact, it indeed is why it requires faith because to our carnal way of thinking (absent from the insight of spiritual workings), it does not make sense. In other words, it does not register with what we see, hear, smell, taste, touch, and the inner workings of our thought life. This means what inner perceptions we may have from the soulish/carnal realm are still absent from the insight of spiritual workings.
He is in the habit of using the foolishness of man to confound the wise of this world. “So, we then we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling, faithfully taking steps as God leads us knowing that it is Him all the while at work in us energizing and creating in us the power and desire, both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” (Phil. 2:12, paraphrased). Now, do you understand!?
